Please help tree dying top down

I've got a tree that's dying from the top down.

What can I do to stop it dying completely?

Anyone know what this tree is called ?

Yeah, don't cut any of the green branches off at all - just the dead ones only.

Most conifers will not back-bud or produce new growth on branches if they have no green growth on that branch. Which is why you see so many tall conifer hedges which are huge and lush at the top and a forest of stumps at the bottom
