I am a complete novice at this cuttings malarkey but usually quite green fingered.

I am moving house and thought i would re-establish my beautiful garden by means of cuttings ....

Is it totally the wrong time of year?

I am using rooting powderis this right?

I have used soil - should I have used potting compost?

I feel so sad- my gaden is filled with limp things in pots

PLEASE HELP!

I need to do some hydrangea cuttings too but will need to get some potting/cutting compost.
The Organic Life article (june issue) says it's the right time for doing cuttings of albelia, fucshia, forsythia, hydrangea & lavender.
It says to put into cutting compost, water, and cover with a poly bag and leave in a humid area (takes about 3 weeks for roots to take hold).

compost is best, and add some sand into it for drainage - cuttings have a tendency to rot. you only need the tinist dab of rooting powder and shake extra off afterwards. what are you trying to take cuttings of?

oh and keep them out of hot sun or they will be very limp things in pots then very brown dead things in pots!
