Green fly on my lovely new rose bushes - whats best to use??

I just planted a few rose bushes a couple of weeks ago and on close inspection yesterday I see a mass of tiny green insects all over the stems. Is there any saving them - would I have anything in the kitchen I could treat it with or should I get to a garden centre for a spray??

This is a bit gross but I squish them with my fingers or wash them off with soapy water and a cloth. Very satisfying. However do not do this if it is sunny or likely to be sunny in a few hours as the water/soap might burn the leaves then. This works better than anything else. you can also spray on a mix of water and dishwashing liquid.

Well there was a brief time in my life when I thought I would be into gardening - then I realised how much work it is to keep it looking nice and I really couldnt be arsed!

If you mix up washing up liquid and water and spray it on I have recollections that it should solve the problem for you.

Thanks all - I did ring my Mum and she said much the same - just as effective as an over priced spray.

Might get dd to do it after school
