Alternatives to Buxus for either side of front door

I have a Victorian terrace which currently gets full sun at the front and I struggle to keep anything I plant there from getting scorched.

I'd love Buxus either side of the door but they don't suit full sun.

Can anyone recommend any container plants that would thrive? Or at least survive

Would bay/laurel be better?

Lavender?
Look for Mediterranean type plants
Cordyline
Artemisia?

I'd go for lavender: it can look nice neatly trimmed during the winter.

I like to change my front door pots around seasonally though. I go big bright geraniums or cosmos for summer, single colour and lots of flowers.

I like olive or bay trees

Thank you, I've planted some bay trees. Will see how they go.
I have enough space to pop some geraniums in the bottom for a bit of colour too
