We cleared some leylandi last year, and amongst the obvious weeds that have sprung up, there are a couple I don’t recognise. Does anyone know what they are?

The purple flowered one looks like Pheasant berry, Leycesteria formosa and the narrow strap like leaf one is some sort of Iridaceae perhaps - like crocosmia, need flowers to be sure.

Thank you, Manzana, you are quite right. It is pheasant berry. Marvellous. I shall keep it. I’ll wait for the others to flower. This garden was hugely overgrown when we moved here, it’s wonderful finding all the hidden treasures underneath
