Last year I grew an aubergine outside. Despite making fruit, they didn't mature. This year I have the plant in a 10" pot in the greenhouse, along with the tomatoes, cucumber, peppers and chillies. Does anyone have any tips they'd care to share to ensure success?

Last year I grew one by a sunny window in the kitchen. It was a dwarf variety (still 2.5 ft) and it produced about 30 golf ball sized fruits in all - which were lovely.

This year I’m growing a regular variety...

Last year I just feed it once a week when it started fruiting. Oh and I used a paint brush to cross pollinate the flowers.

I grow them in a polytunnel - feed them well, like tomatoes, they love the heat, and take the first fruits early rather than waiting for them to grow bigger. Subsequent fruits will be larger but won’t bother if the first ones are still on the plant. If you have comfrey growing near you it makes first class feed for all the plants in fruit.

Don’t let that Godfrey into your garden though, you will never be rid of it. Seriously. You can fill a bucket with the leaves and water, cover and leave it to fust for a week, dilute one to ten to use. It smells so so so bad you won’t thank me but it is extraordinarily good.
