Book about learning from weeds - and other gardening books!

A poster on here recommend a book a while ago which she said talked about using weeds to learn about the soil in your garden and was very readable, like a novel.. she had to order it from the US I think.. annoyingly I can't remember the book, the poster or the thread! If it was you could please tell me again as I'd love to read it!

Any other recommendations for very readable gardening based books would be appreciated - not necessarily on the same topic, just something I can get absorbed in rather than a straight forward manual type book.

Thanks!

I think what you're looking for is Henk Gerritson's Essay on Gardening, recommended by ©GardenGeek. I agree it looks fab!

I like Elizabeth von Arnim's Elizabeth and her German Garden, though it tends to be a marmite book. The Virago Book of Women Gardeners is a good one, too. D G Hessayon's Armchair Garden book has all sorts of nice snippets - garden history, famous gardens, how to grow your own walking stick Grin

Weeds, the Story of our Plants - by Richard Mabey is fascinating and illuminating. A really good gardening- related book.
