Patio suggestions - plants/furniture?

Looking for some ideas/suggestions for the small patio area outside my living room. Have attached some photos to help. The woodstore must stay, the bench will be going. I would ideally like to add some seating /maybe a table (not sure there is really room though) and plants/colour. I have been wondering about small trees in pots to provide green/interest? The patio has sun during the day and afternoon but not in the evening - so this is not an area we would sit in the evening but more daytime. Also because it is outside the patio doors/window it can't be too cluttered. Come on you lovely Mumsnetters, inspire me!

As all bistro style table and chairs wouldn’t take up too much room.
Smallish trees such as Acers would look pretty. Some small growing bamboo would give height and texture, and makes a lovely rustling sound in the wind.
Different shrubs for different times of the year such as azaelias at the moment. Scented plants are always lovely on a patio, Jasmine and honeysuckle pot grown around an obilisk.
All round colour and shape using small firs, mixed in with summer annuals?
