Inspired by a thread a while ago by grannygarden work on my garden starts tomorrow and I thought I might document it here and maybe others could share ideas/photos of their garden makeovers!

I used to have a lovely garden but we had an extension starting a year ago, it was absolute hell, a straight forward 16 week build which turned in to 8 months of a lying twatchops of a builder and my garden was trashed.
So we've had a push on getting the fence painted this weekend and we're ready to go!

Wow Patstar that looks beautiful! Very inspiring. I love the shelf under the shed & your lighting.

That's the joy of gardening though isn't things can be moved round etc.

Mine started today, creating larger patio area and getting rid of compost bins. More paving to be done and work at the front, more photos on my next post!

Patio - the lower tier is being removed to crest a bigger patio, I'll need to replant the upper bed - ideas welcome!

We are in week 2 of our garden makeover and it is finally coming together.

We have a smallish garden as we have a modern house. We bought the show house and because of this the builders had planted lots of shrubs for a quick makeover with no thought about how high things eventually would grow or spread out. We have gradually been losing our garden to these shrubs and the sunlight even though we cut them back and trimmed them each year. This year we finally had the funds to sort the garden out.

Here are a couple of photos of one side of the garden, before and after. We have also built a new patio at the other end of the garden which leads down from our current patio which we have re-laid as it was concrete slabs previously and looked awful.

Here is the new bottom patio showing when we first started and what it looks like today. It still isn't finished as the path and top patio still need grouting in and there is still some red bricks to go around the sides of the patio but we are getting there! We have ordered some new patio furniture today as the table on the bottom patio is usually at the top but we wanted to use it this weekend.

My DH has problems with his back and is trying to make the garden more manageable. He can do lots of pots as he can do them on the table without bending down whereas flower beds were becoming a problem for him. I'm a good weeder but that's about all I do in the garden so I'm happy😀

Sorry there "are some red bricks" not "is" 😳

Icequeen01 · 15/07/2018 19:32

Just noticed the photo when we first started the bottom patio didn't come out - here it is!

userxx · 15/07/2018 20:48

@Icequeen01 wow what a difference, it looks absolutely amazing. Just goes to show what can be done to completely change the look of a garden.

Icequeen01 · 15/07/2018 20:59

Thank you Userxx. I must admit when my DH told me his plans I was a little sceptical as I find it very hard to visualise things. One good thing about him being a golfer is he is friendly with just about every tradesman there is. The guy who did this for us is a landscaper and good friend and he has already done the front for us which looks fab so I had faith in him to guide us, even if I didn't have faith in DH! 😀

I think it's going to look fab when it's completely finished.

Just had my garden landscaped, was plain grass before. Quite small, it feels bigger now. Planted first few plants today!

TeamRick · 18/06/2020 09:38

Just looking at the garden this morning and remembered this thread so thought I'd add some more pictures? 2 years on!
