Climber for an east facing fence ? To fight off ivy that I have heroically cut back

Anyone got a suggestion for a climber for an easy facing fence. Fairly sheltered and gets morning sun.
I have cut back a load of ivy (although I know it lives to fight another day).

Try to poison the ivy first. Drill into the base if poss then syringe poison( glyphosate)into the holes. Then cover with plastic bags incase of animals.
Try planting a climbing rose, away from Ive base, such as rambling rector or a climbing hydrangea.

Thanks. I didn't know about the option of killing it. Some is from our land some is not. I will look at what you suggest.
