I want GRASS! And veg in pots! (not asking for much I know) - long

I have a teeny garden about 4m by 5m, it used to be the storage room for the shop that used to be in my house and basically has just had the roof ripped off to make a garden. It is all concrete and walls. We covered it in bark chippings last summer and whitewashed the walls so at least it looks nice but I really want some grass so DD can sit outside and play at home instead of going to the park.
I can't dig into the concrete as it's raised and is literally a metre thick we tried that last summer. I also can't cover it all as we need to be able to get the doors open
How easy would it be to build a small wall across half the garden and put in soil and turf?
I also want to start growing veg as the wait for allotments is ridiculous, any tips to get me started? I have some dead plants in pots out there at the moment so can use the pots they are in!

There is a pic in my profile of the garden as it is now.

Loads of threads on here about growing in pots , I grow peas, tomatos, blueberries, strawberries, goosberries, apple, pear, hearbs, lettuce, carrot ,am trying celery, garlic, all in pots and tomatos and strawberries in hanging baskets.

You can buy tomatos/strawberry plants from garden centres to start you off. I tend to bung compost in a pot and add seeds/plants, nothing technical
