All you people with babies and hanging baskets need to know this...

Apparently you can use the gel from disposible nappes instead of expensive water-retaining gel crystals in the compost of hanging baskets, to reduce watering. Split open the nappy and mix the gel with the compost or cut up the nappies and put at the bottom of the basket. (If they have been wee'd on, all the better - good for the plants.)
Sounds like a tip from Viz.

good point devious. theyd prob only fall out a couple of times before they learn not to qwriggle too much...

seems like a rollicking good idea to me - who said disposables were environmentally unsound!

Also, if you get them swinging enough they might just fall asleep in them giving you a couple of hours peace!
