Looking for shrubs to put in front of bay window

Hi, we're redoing the front of our house and need some new shrubs to put in front of the kitchen bay window. The patch running alongside this window is about 3 feet wide, 12 feet long and sun/partial shade. Not sure of the name of the shrubs we have currently but they are lovely when the white flowers are in bloom but the flowers are very short-lived and it just gets very messy when the flowers wilt. Looking for some shrubs that are evergreen / with or without flowers and not too fast growing (i.e I don't want to spend my spring / summer cutting away branches from the window). Any one has any ideas?

cotoneaster's good - only needs the occasional prune, evergreen, flowers in spring & berries thru winter. And thorns, so good for burglars!
