Brick path question

I’ve just had a lovely clay paver path laid. I’d wanted it up to front door but the bricklayer misheard and left the horrible old painted bricks at the door. He’s coming back to rectify next week My question is, based on the photos do you think this will look ok continued up to the door or would it be better to have something that contrasts with the bricks eg slate etc

Have you some of the path bricks left over? The door bricks are nowhere near as attractive.

It's beautiful OP! Running it right up to the door will look amazing.

I often start to over think projects like this but you're definitely on the right path (excuse the pun).

Can you share the finished photos when done?

Thanks so much. The old bricks are definitely coming up, they’re horrible! I just couldn’t decide whether the path would be ok continued up to the door but I’m now going to go for it. You’re right I totally overthink every single project. In my head I’m now a master bricklayer after googling paths for weeks!! I’ve had a 32 metre path in same bricks through bavk garden. It’s lovely. Just waiting for a little round patio to be made next week and I’ll certainly post pics when it’s all completed. This is the beginning of the back path

It looks lovely.

I like the varied colours, the asymmetry. It reminds me of this poem that praises variety and change:

Glory be to God for dappled things—
For skies of couple-colour as a brinded cow;
For rose-moles all in stipple upon trout that swim;
Fresh-firecoal chestnut-falls; finches’ wings;

I have path envy! That's going to be a beautiful garden.

I overthink and obsess over projects I work on, I think it's a good thing on the whole as those tiny details make all the difference - the only problem is that now and again it can be hard to make the final decision.

Great poem echt, very apt.* * I too am a fan of dappled things.

Lovely poem. Thanks. Spent so much on pavers and labour I’m running out of money for my coveted cottage garden! Afraid I’m the same inside my house. I spend mega money on flooring and run out for furnishings !
