Can any of you lovely gardeners identify this small tree for me please? It is in a pot dug into the veg patch which we are renovating, but I don't think it's ever fruited or flowered. Help! Thanks

Cherry of some sort?

SophieofShepherdsBush · 24/09/2017 23:03

Yes, cherry.

I can't imagine it will like being stuck in a pot! Can you cut the pot away?

Newtssuitcase · 25/09/2017 08:05

I agree with the others and would remove it from the pot.

Thanks all for your help. We inherited it where it is so will definitely cut what's left of the pot away. Perhaps that will encourage it to flower next year!

It has some nice burgeoning fruit buds that will pop open next year - second photo, along the stem on the left hand side, the first bunch of buds are flower/fruit buds. So get it planted!

Give it some nice blood and bone in the hole to encourage those poor abused roots to get stronger

Thank you all! Will take the advice and let you know how we get on.
