Neighbour not treating fungal disease in their hedge.

There are lots of privet hedges in our street and several have developed fungal disease.
The hedge closest to ours (just 1m away) is really badly affected and so far the neighbour hasn't done anything about it other than to shake their head and say how nasty it looks.
I can see some starting on my hedge so am going to start treating it. But is there any point if the neighbours don't bother?
We're new to the area so I don't feel able to bring it up directly, although I hope that they ask what I am doing when I am out there!

You could go out and treat yours when they are in the garden and offer to do their one too. Or tell them what you are using to treat your one.

They probably don't know how to fix it. I wouldn't have thought they are ignoring it on purpose.

That sounds like a good idea!
