Please can someone tewll me if too early to plant my potatoes ?

This is usually about the right time, but they'll rot if your ground is as cold & wet as mine at the moment.

Pin some black polythene over the area you want to plant them and tune in to Gardener's World on Fri for some advice from Monty - he'll tell you when it's time.

pots!

plant potatoes in pots, and stagger the planting to extend harvesting time... that way you can bring them in if any chance of frost, or just get them started off well indoors... if you get potato planters you can 'pot up' as they grow and increase the yield too.

Mine are going in this week. We're South East on clay soil but I've put so much compost & well rotted horse manure in the veg garden over the past couple of years that it has changed my soil from wet & claggy to loamy loveliness.
