Is it too early to cut back my ivy? (Worried about fledglings)

My garden boundaries are all covered in thick ivy - I would like to cut it back as much as possible and am at home for the next week (so the time to do it). I just wondered if it was too early to be sure that any birds have fledged.

Ours have all gone, so I cut mine yesterday. I watched and listened for a couple of days and neither saw nor heard any.
