Have lots of onion and garlic top plant but small garden- how please and where ?

Can i plant either of these in big pots and if not how close could i pos. plany them together ?

the closer you plant your onions the smaller they will be - if you have onion sets then it can feel like they haven't grown at all! they want reasonably good soil and not to dry out if possible. About 4" each way is ok, more if you've got the space, just leave enough space to hoe/weed between them. TBH it's a bit late for garlic, they do better if they go out in November for some reason, but they can go in the same place as your onions and if you can give them a bit more space they'll be even happier.
