Pumpkin problems

Help! I've got 2 pumpkin plants growing in containers. They've done very well and each have one pumpkin on growing nicely...but that's it! There are lots of male flowers but all the female ones shrivel and die. Anyone know why and what I can do? A quick google only suggested that the plants can only support one pumpkin each but that can't be right surely?

I generally only let my pumpkin plants have 1 pumpkin, because I want it to grow massive for Halloween. Looks like yours are naturally doing that.

Oh, ok thanks ohyesiam, they seem to have stopped growing at a medium size and are turning orange. Normally all my plants die though so this is definitely progress!
