I have an evergreen shrub in my garden which was put in by a gardener years ago. I wasn't paying attention at the time and never wrote the name of the plant down Blush (novice gardener).

It's grown vigorously since, and has now become a bit too big. I'd like to reduce the size, and hence need to find out what plant it actually is.

It's in flower at the moment (see photos). It has dark green leaves and purple clusters of flowers. I haven't noticed berries growing on it. Or if there are berries, they are small. (Not been paying attention again...)

Someone mentioned cherry laurel or Portugal laurel. I googled them, but couldn't find any with dark leaves and purple flowers.

Any ideas or hints much appreciated Smile
