Why are mushrooms growing in my garden?!

We have a new build house, so the turf was laid fresh in February. We've watered occasionally with a sprinkler when it's been very dry, but never much. Lawn is suddenly covered in these little mushrooms!! Confused

Any ideas why, or how best to get rid? My toddler loves being in the garden but I don't want them to be a danger!

There would have been spores in the turf I imagine. No idea how to get rid or what type they are though. I am sure someone more knowledgable will be along shortly.

Exactly the same situ here! New turf and mushrooms!! Watching with interest...

The turf could have been top-dressed with spent mushroom compost at some stage before lifting. This compost is used as a cheap soil improver. From time to time you will get mushrooms!

We have the same problem in an area that was newly topsoiled and turfed last year. Been told by the people who treat our lawn to pull the mushrooms up before grass is cut, otherwise the blades will shred and spread the spores, meaning more mushrooms!
