Red Ants

We have red ants in our garden. Last year I found the nest & managed to get rid of them, they're not in the same place this year.
I'm not overly bothered, except DH has started to do his exercises on the lawn & got bitten.

I have some ant powder from homebase, but not sure if it will have an adverse affect on the lawn if I put it down there.

Is there anything I can do, or just leave them to get on with it?

I just find the nest and pour boiling water on it.

The special ant traps work well. I buy a few for our garden. B&Q, Homebase type places sell them.

Thanks, I'll have a look for some traps. If I find the nest I will put boiling water down it, as long as it's not in the grass I suppose. That's what I did last time anyway, but it was away form the lawn & under a loose paving stone.

On the whole I don't like disturbing creatures like ants that are not bothering me...but they are wrecking the grass and there is a big mound right where I stand to peg out washing

I don't it's got that far with ours, but I haven't found where they're coming from yet, so will have a look and see what's going on. I don't usually mind ants, but the red ones do bite so just trying to limit that if possible.
