Easy indoor fruits and vegetables, where do I start?

A few friends and I are going to challenge ourselves. Please keep in mind that I am nearly blind, and have absolutely zero gardening experience. I have one window in my flat, so will have to put whatever I grow on the kitchen table which is next to radiator. Is there something that doesn't need months looking after, and can grow in a short time? That should read mats looking after much.

On an indoor windowsill if you want to grow more than herbs I would say peppers would be your best bet, they grow really nicely in a pot in a sunny spot indoors.

How quickly do they grow? The peppers I mean. Do you just need a part, the seeds, some soil and a bit of water? How often do you water them?

Does it have to be from seed? If you get some plants that have come on a bit you'll have much more success, we're quite well on it the growing cycle now, if it has to be from seed, basil, lettuce and spinach would be your best bets, you're a bit too far on in the year too be starting veg from seed at his point.

Leafy things would be your best option from here on in.

I'm learning. I didn't realize there was a growing cycle. When do people usually start to grow things like tomatoes? If I start growing lettuce and spinach now, how long Will they take to grill? Grow
