New house with garden decking - need some ideas/inspiration!

Hi, I moved into my house 6 months ago and I feel like it's only just stopped raining (LOL) so I am now turning some thoughts to the garden. It's small to medium in size with a decking area at the back covering about half the width of the garden. My initial reaction was to get rid of it as all I saw was a horrible brown colour but I had a light bulb moment yest thinking about ways to paint it and spruce it up. I definitely want to go paler/brighter and wondered if anyone has any ideas?

I also want to put a shed in that area of the garden, would it look ok actually on top of the decking area? It would only be a small shed so there would still be room for seating and plant pots.

Please inspire me, I am not an experienced gardener as my last garden was huge and I did not have the time to maintain it but I want to make this new one really nice. Thanks all.

I love our composite (plastic) decking we had put in last year-if you have the framework you could consider this or just use Cuprinol (not shitting ronseal) to tart up the wood

Would the shed be in the corner/back of garden? You could consider a small summerhouse/shed-if there's room on the decking it would be ok but not what you'd want to lead your eye to possibly

Yes it's in the back and corner, or would be when we get it. Cuprinol noted. Thanks buckeejit (btw your name reminds me of what my maths teacher used to call us if we gave a wrong answer!)

Hmm a I wonder if you could get an L shape shed maybe with 2 doors in the corner & then arrange seating combined to the shed walls iykwim? I'm not sure about light colour decking-google to see if it floats your boat. Black looks great against green foliage.

Are you of NI descent? I say your username daily to dc!
