Best way to keep cats out of garden

Hello all
I need help on keeping the local mafia cats out of my garden. I've reseeded my lawn recently so I realise this has been their incentive to kindly share their gifts of poop but now it must stop!
Any help greatly appreciated

There are a few tips that get mentioned on here a lot that work well. The things I've found to work are orange peel scattered over the area you want them to avoid, or lots of pointy sticks. (Sticks work better on a smaller area - you'd have to have the patience of a saint to stick sticks all over a lawn!)

I think others like to use water to scare the cats off, but I'm less keen on this method.

I shall send my children stick hunting at the weekend. I've heard that bottles of water work but what do I do with them do I just fill them up and put the lid on and leave them
