Anyone else been out getting muddy?
I've dug up a very oddly positioned flowerbed and sown some grass seed instead, hopefully we will have some extra lawn in time for the summer holidays

yes ive been out - cutting back some bamboo etc and planting some early potatoes and red onion sets and sowing carrot/parsnip seeds.
Now im knackered and the roasties are in the oven!! Cant wait for my bath later on!

Well, as I said on another thread earlier, we did cut back a whole load of honeysuckle this morning. It was strangling our poor forsythia. Now they have been separated and we have hung up 2 birdhouses there too. Not sure whether the birds will use them to be honest as 1 was painted this morning by dd2 with a rather dazzling effect .

Cut back loads of ivy, mowed the lawn, dug in some manure into veg patch and moved 3 crowns of rhubarb. Spring is coming!

ChippyMinton · 11/03/2007 19:42

rhubarb - i knew i had another job to do - mine was temporarily shoved in a growbag last spring to make way for something else. What position does it like?

scarified lawn, topdressed & reseeded patches ...again... and bought massivo loads of peat free compost in eager anticipation of my soon to be delivered patio raised beds!
DS 'helped' by throwing grass seed around and dd ate mud!

Chippy - mine have been in a quite shady spot near a mature tree for the last 4 years and have never done very well, so have moved it to a more sunny spot. Main thing is a very fertile soil, hence the manure.

ChippyMinton · 11/03/2007 19:48

thanks chestnutty, i will raid my compost bin and dig a big hole

FB the birds will be well fed on all the spare grass seed lying around - DS1 and i worked on the basis on one handful for the soil and one for the birds.
