Hello, I have just acquired an allotment plot. It is unloved, overgrown
( long grass/nettles/brambles)and in need of a bit of work. I have basic gardening tools ( fork/rake/spade/loppers) any tips on how/where to start would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

How much time do you have to spare?

I'd prioritise clearing half of it and getting some beds sorted with easy to grow vegetables such as potatoes to break the soil up and then sewing french/climbing beans.

The other half I'd cover with cardboard to keep weeds in check whilst you get on with some planting.

What are you planning on growing?

A good few fruit bushes will explain good to get in now too so you'll get some fruit this summer.

I'd recommend a book called the allotment keepers handbook.

Great advice, Hey. Thank you. I would like to grow potatoes/sweetcorn/broccoli/cauli/carrots/fruit... anything really. I just didn't know where to start with it all. Thanks so much
