Decking

Hi all, I was planning on putting an area of decking in my garden on top of the pre existing patio to raise the floor up to meet the door and a step down to the grass. However I have seen lots of things about rats and decking. My property is an 1885 terrace we have seen rats in the garden before but we have filled the holes in the patio they were coming from (we believe a cracked sewer was the problem). If we do all the recommended rat proofing will we be okay? I don't want to not use the decking as my late dad bought it for his garden before he passed. We will be using some of the boards to make a raised veggie bed.

Some advice here: www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2008/jul/05/gardens3

I am not sure I would personally go for decking in an area where I had actually seen rats in the garden, but it's personal choice about the risks involved and plenty of people report not having had a problem. Smile
