Brambles

Got a large area at bottom of garden that is over run with brambles. What's the best way to get rid of them and keep them from coming back?

You need a pair of proper gauntlets! You can strimmer them or cut them with loppers to get rid of most of the thorniness, and then dig up the roots and drag them out. They tend to resprout, so a bit of vigilance for a while may be needed.
