What can I plant in tubs at the front of my house?

House is a long stone cottage. Gravel driveway and gravel at the front of the house. It's exposed and gets full sun. I want to put two or three troughs/tubs out the front. Was thinking lavender? What else would be good?

Rosemary and herbs are nice in full sun. Sedums and ice plants would do well too.

Is this for the winter or summer or all year? You could plant but own for,the spring, then over plant with winter bedding lIke pansies that can be ripped out when the bulbs come through.

I have lavenders in a large trough and then two large lots with heathers that contrast with the house for winter. I've also used euphorbia in pots and winter pansies too.

It sounds lovely!

I would start with repeating topiary. Lollipop bays will cope with sun and exposure, as will box (though the dreaded blight seems to be spreading). If your budget stretches, yew.

Then once you have a structure, you can fill in with other really tough flowering plants for all seasons.
