What on earth is burrowing under a fence and up into my compost bin?

The hole under the fence is pretty small - about 5cm ish I'd say. It's kicked out lots of earth and compost material and obviously gone up into the bin. Never had this before.
Looks too small for a hedgehog.
What do you think?

Rat

A rat. They love compost bins.

I've, sadly, gone back to binning my children waste and only composting garden waste because the rats were getting too settled. They'd eat potato peelings, manky fruit, anything.

Megle yes I agree, waste children are difficult to get rid of Grin

Finbar · 11/09/2016 16:13

Oh yuk. I was hoping you wouldn't say rat!
Guess I'll have to start it again and put the bin on a hard standing base.

If it's a plastic bin, beware they ate through ours!

Children waste Grin

They'll eat through plastic. They ate through my compost caddy thing. They eat through bloody walls. This has been the year of the rat in my house.
