what to plant in the rarely used parking spots?

On the side on the house we have two back to back parking spaces. Lots of parking in the street and we use other parking spaces so it gets used once or twice max in the summer. In the winter, it gets a bit more used, but the ground is frozen by then (Canadian winter) so I'm not sure it matters much.

Anyway, the first part nothing grows on it as is is solid clay, but the second one is covered in weeds. I don't mind the wild look at all, but I would like to plant a few low plants that can survive the rare car rolling on it or being stepped on (the weeds are doing fine so I guess it in possible?). The idea is that the wilderness looks intentional. Oh and that area is part shade and has good quality soil.

I've been raking my brain since 2 years but I still don't know what to do!

Thyme? Camomile? Thrift (almera?)
