Anyone tried lavender in a shady spot?

If so, how did it cope?
I have a shady bit at the back of the garden, not too damp but limited sun. Lavender has grown v successfully elsewhere in the garden so we have the right soil.
Anyone managed to brighten a shady spot with lavender? Thank you!

Last year I was growing lavender in a bright area and it was thriving. I moved it to a dappled shade area and it drooped within days. It was french lavender, don't know if that makes a difference.

You suggest that it's dry shade, and if it's not too dark, you might be able to get it to grow, but it won't be its brilliant best. Shade, wet, and heavy clay it dislikes - all three are a recipe for lavender disaster.

Chirita lavandulacea is a member of the lavender family that doesn't mind a bit of shade. It's beautiful, but is an annual in the UK.

Thanks Shove, I'll look out for it. There's a lavender farm 10ish miles from here, I'll try them first.

I grow English lavender reasonably successfully in a part of the garden that is well drained but semi shady (not dappled, it's either full sun or full shade but quite near a high fence so shady quite a lot of the time. My local lavender farm are really helpful in getting the right plant for your conditions.

I have lots of lavender. It seeds/propagates easily here so I grow my own plants. They struggle at the bottom of the garden where they are shaded by trees. I try and keep any other shade away, and keep replacing them.
