will fireworks wreck the lawn and is there anything we can do to protect it?

An elderly family member has a big birthday coming up at the start of November and we thought it might be nice to celebrate with a few small fireworks (fountains?). The problem is we have quite a small garden which consists of some decking and a lawn and I am worried that any fireworks, sparks etc will ruin the lawn and burn the decking!

Does anyone have any experience or ideas for how to protect the lawn and decking? Or is it a complete no no?

Thanks

should be fine,if the grounds wet, walk as many different route to the launch site as possible to stop a compacted path wearing in.

buy ones that fit safely inside the space for the garden and you can use a large flower pot with sand or soil in to form a launch area
as for the decking, make sure you have the hose plumbed in ready to go should the worst happen,
