yeap, just peel it before eating as the skins often quite tough on home grown

It's just a spiky variety I think. You can knock the spikes off with the back of a knife (or your hand) if you don't want to actually peel it.

Looks a bit like my one, called Delicaße , from Lidl a little German garden emporium I know.

All cucumbers are spiky to some degree. The ones in the shops get the spikes knocked off in processing.
