Does anybody know about cutting down trees and what to replant?

Hoping for some expert advice! We have a conifer type tree which is currently dropping loads of brown needles and doesn't look very healthy. I'm thinking it might be time to have it cut down as I'm not really a fan anyway. I'd love to plant something else in its place though, but haven't a clue what.

I'd like something that bees like if at all possible. Can anyone advise at all?

Is it north/south facing? Fruit trees (apples in particular) are always good for bees.

When you have it chopped down, make sure the stump is ground out, too. It takes up quite a bit of space you'll need for your new trees.

Pay extra for the stumpgrinders to take away the debris. I didn't and it took me weeks to dispose of bags of sawdust from two old stumps.
