Very late planting bulbs - is it still worth trying?

I got one of those free-bulbs offers a while ago - then life went mega busy for the last couple of months so I never got round to planting anything.

I've been looking them up now I finally have a bit more time, and while some say they should be planted in Autumn (alliums), there are 3 it looks like really should have been planted a while back - freesias, acidanthera (gladioli apparently?) and oxalis.

So I'm now wondering whether to chuck them in ASAP and hope they will just flower later than usual, or whether they will keep till next year? There are tons of them as well so I'll have to give some away too as the garden is nearly full (unless I also get round to clearing out some of the things I'm not so keen on)! Any thoughts? Thank you!

I bought some acidanthera at Chelsea Flower Show last week, ready to be planted, so I don't think it will be a problem for those. Can't say about the others, but the worst that may happen is that they come up blind perhaps.

Wow, I thought I was late.

This weekend, being the Queen's Birthday holiday weekend, is traditionally the last weekend for planting bulbs for spring here in Au. So I'm hauling the bulbs out of the beer fridge and getting them into pots.

Right, I have planted (nearly all) the acidanthera today.... will do the freesias and some of the oxalis (don't think I have room for them all anyway) tomorrow if the DCs let me I get a chance! Fingers crossed... Anyway some alliums I'd forgotten I planted from last time I got one of these offers have popped up and are looking rather nice, so that's a good sign I suppose.

Right, I have planted as many oxalis as I can find spaces for too now, will give the rest away as there are too many (they were already starting to try to grow in the packet, but at least that means they're alive I suppose!). Only freesias left to do now, I might put those in a pot - the rest I think can be done in Autumn...
