Which digital camera for good-quality close-ups of plants?

Can anyone recommend a simple-to-use and economical digital camera that will take good close-up pictures of plants -- or give me one or two specs, e.g. about the macro facility, I ought to look out for?

I want to take close-ups that have enough sharpness and definition to communicate detail about the plant and be lovely to look at. And I'd like to be able to share easily online: my plants make me so insanely happy I feel confident that all the world ought to have a chance to see them. Wink

WiFi connectivity would be great, but less important than quality of image

I'm asking here because I would really value non-tecchie answers from people who love plants more than (or as much as) cameras. I've tried looking for recommendations on camera review sites but they are all so technical that I can't get much from them. I need a numpty's guide to simple (but good-enough quality) point-and-press cameras. Perhaps someone knows of a good site?

I won't be able to check the thread for a while but I am very grateful indeed for any replies and info. Smile

I have a Sony Cyber Shot and use the macro all the time for my website pictures.

These were taken in my garden with only the macro on, in sunlight and no additional touch-ups.

Thanks very much. Those pictures are nice. I'll look into that one. I think there is quite a range of sony cybershots. Is yours one of the more budgety ones or a pricier one?

Check out the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-TZ70. It is tiny, and looks like a basic point and shoot (and is every bit as easy to use) but it has a whopping telephoto-style zoom on it, which is just amazing. I am a totally and completely incompetent photographer, but this camera makes me look like I actually know what I'm doing. Plus, I can get photos of birds quite a long way off where I can see every feather.
