Can I plant a small rose Bush in my garden?

Complete novice here and I'm winging it with my garden. So far I've planted 4 poundland Rose bushes and they've all got a bit of greenery on them. I've been given a small rose Bush from ikea for mothers day, it's about 20cm tall. Can I plant this straight in my garden?

The last owner left me a beautiful bed of flowers and plants and I am desperately trying to keep everything alive! It'll be interesting to see if the same flowers and plants come up again this year.

I've been given roses and the like as presents over the years and they're all in my garden.
For the first year, I tend to replant them in a pot, so I can gently introduce them into the wild, with good compost. If it gets icy and into sub-zero temperatures, I can move them. By the second year they are acclimatised and have decent roots, and I've decided where I want them.

Do the small rose bushes stay small?

Should I bring the pot back inside in winter or leave it outside once potted? Is such a beautiful Bush.

Rose bushes do not stay small, they will need to be pruned if you want to keep them small.

But they are hardy, so do not need bringing indoors at all.

Best bit of advice about gardening, find out what plants and varieties of plats you have, and then research online how to care for that particular variety.

What variety is it?
The sort that are sold as presents in pots tend to be miniature or patio roses, and they don't get above 2'. You prune them lightly each year and the growth will stay neat and bushy rather than tall and straggly. They are very easy!
I'd bring the pot inside at night if the temperature drops below freezing, next winter it won't care because it will have had a summer or growing.

I spent hours last year trying to find out what all the plants bushes were called. Without much success. It's difficult to find out info about plants online when you don't know what they're called.

I'm thinking of putting some photos on mn this year to try and get some extra help. The lady owner had a gardener but I find it therapeutic to be out in the garden and really want to learn.

Alternative, I found if I was given a miniature rose for Mothers day or my birthday and then put it outside, if the weather went sub-zero for a couple of weeks, the plant didn't survive. It's probably because they were raised in a hothouse and unprepared.
When I get roses for the garden, they go straight in.

You sound like the perfect gardener, I find it theraputic.
No-one always gets it right, if you are prepared for failures, it make the things that go well even better!
