The cotoneaster horizontalis at the front of a large bed in our garden appears to have died. It's only a couple of years since I put it in and it's now completely bare after flowering and having berries before the winter. We have another one elsewhere which is doing fine and everything in the same bed as the dead one is looking in good shape.
Is there something which affects cotoneaster which may have killed it? Can I safely plant another one in the same place do you think? I'm thinking it's probably just one of those things, but if anyone has any wisdom they can share, I'd be grateful.
When I take it out I'll see if there's any root damage or signs of any pests.
