Palm type plant for unheated conservatory. Please advise.

I have an unheated conservatory, so as you can guess, its bloody freezing at night and through winter, but boiling hot when the sun shines on it.

I'm looking for a hardy plant, maybe a palm, that can withstand such a change in temperature and looks good too, for a finishing touch.

Any ideas welcome Smile Thanks

I wouldn't know, but try asking on gardening sites; there are dozens, for every kind of plant there is!

Or the National Garden Scheme, though there may not be many gardens open at the moment, except for snowdrops etc. Also, the RHS, and National Trust.

The only plant that thrives in my unheated conservatory is a Money (or Jade) plant. Mine is rather large, survives on neglect and the extreme conditions and flowers every winter.

You can get large ones from Homebase and the like or free ones from cuttings from anyone who already has one. In the right conditions they can be huge - there is one about 2m tall in Wisley's greenhouse. Picture is mine today, flowers just going over so have lost their whiteness.

By the way, the radiator in the picture doesn't actually work! unless we turn off every other radiator downstairs
