A couple of winter questions

1. I have a fuschia in a hanging basket. Can I leave it there overwinter or do I need to pot it up or doing anything else with it?

1. A few weeks back I put some spare daffodil bulbs in some pots in a dark place for indoor winter flowers but now I can't find the instructions of what to do next When do they need bringing in and should they be watered now (they are bone dry)

Can anyone help a keen but clueless gardener? THANKS

Most fuchsias for hanging baskets aren't hardy so will die if left outside all winter. Having said that - you could probably get away with just bringing them indoors or into a frost free shed or garage on the nights that it's going to drop below freezing.
Daffodils need a cool period to stimulate root production, so you've left it a bit late, really. Pot them up now, keep them moist, leave them in a shady place and bring them in after 10 weeks (about Christmas). If you bring them in too soon they'll come up 'blind' - it will look as though they've got flowers but they will never open. This can also happen in the garden if they're planted in the ground somewhere that's too hot & dry.
You might be better off just putting these ones in the ground and buy yourself a little pot of the 'Tete-a-tete' daffs when you see them in the supermarket - they're usually only about £1.99

Thanks the bulbs are planted up and in the garage so I guess I'll just give them a wee drink and bring them in near christmas.

I'll risk the fuschia on the window sill in the garage too.

Don't forget it and let it dryout, though! If it does look dead in the spring, sometimes it will revive if you cut it right down to the base and then it will sprout from there. It won't mind the foliage getting killed by the frost, but if the roots get frozen or dry for long periods it will die. Enjoy your gardening

right thanks - our tunble dryer is in the garage so I'm out there most days so i shouldn't forget it. But thanks for telling me it will look dead though
