I've just dug up my fig - will I still get figgy pudding?

I stupidly (as I found out later) planted a brown turkey fig in the ground in spring. Boy, did it grow though! It's now about 5ft with 2 branches and loads of leaves.

I've just dug it up and put it in a container in a fairly sheltered spot on the patio. It won't get any sun now until spring.

The container is massive so pretty hard to move around.

Will it survive?

Will I eventually get figs to make figgy pudding? for Christmas 2020

are you concerned about the pot or that its outside? I have 2 in pots to limit growth, which are both outside. I asked my guru on the allotment site if its ok to leave them out without anything covering them and she said they will be fine. Though to be honest i've got one lot of fleece i might put on one of them if its really cold. you know you take off any figs that are bigger than your little finger nail in the autumn?

Figs are pretty bombproof as long as they aren't soggy. I am a great believer that if you want to move something then move it, It's worth a try.

I hope I haven't made it soggy purple, though I must report it's not looking too happy now, wilted and going brown. Might recover in spring? Fingers crossed!
