I'm hoping you knowledgeable people will be able to help me. I?m looking to plant some Elderberry trees in my garden and would like to be able to use the flowers/berrys in cordials etc. Does anyone know whether the ornamental varieties i.e. Sambucus nigra Gerda or Sambucus nigra Eva produce edible flowers/fruits. Thanks in advance for any advice

Hi there. The berries of the cultivars are definitely edible, so flowers must be too.

Many thanks for that Nettletease, glad to hear it, the ornamental ones look much nicer than the ordinary!

I donb't know if Sambucus nigra 'Aurea' produces fruits but it is a beautiful shrub
