i bought a lovely reddy cordyline and wondered if i should plant it out or keep in a pot! my garden is very shady where i want to plant it and soil is clay. i don't want it to die it's so lovely!

The red ones are not very hardy at all. I'd pot it up in a mixture of soil based compost and multi purpose compost , allowing plenty of drainage. This can be put in a cool porch ,greenhouse or garage in the very cold months.
