We recently moved and inherited a rather large garden with very mature plants. The bottom third of our garden is an area of woodland. Its great and I love it but every time I go into the wooded part I get covered in bites! They dont seem to bother the girls just me and DH, but then they dont stand still long enough I guess!

Any suggestions on anything we can plant to deter them, or any good spray etc for us to use.

You have my sympathy, this time of year those flying pests are a menace.

You need some Avon skin so soft dry oil spray to keep them off.

Is there any stagnant water that they are breeding in that you could get rid of?

You could try putting up bat boxes. Bats eat thousands of midges.
