When and how is the best time to move bluebells? Do I just dig up the bulbs and replant, and if so is it ok to do that now?
Also, aquilegia; should I collect seeds and plant them, or should I dig up and move the whole plants?
Thanks in advance!

Bluebells - I'd say while they've still got leaves on them or you won't know where they are. I keep digging them out as they proliferate and only flower for a week then look a mess. I leave the aquilegia to do its thing so I can't advise on that.

I'm the same as pp, I try and get rid of my bluebells as they seem to spread like wild fire. Ours flower for a few weeks but I try and get rid of the seeds before they drop so pull them all up.

Mum pulled her bluebells up: the bulbs underneath are white and quite large and easlly transplanted.

They look lovely in the wild, but they flippin' take over in a garden. I spent several hours digging them out of one side of a lawn a couple of years ago. It was a big job I can tell you and they are always deeper than you think!

aquilegia grow like weeds easily from seed at least the less elaborate forms do.

bluebells also grow like weeds easily from seeds and can be transplanted easily.

Leave the seed heads on the aquilegia and they will sow themselves all over your garden saving you a job Smile

I'd move the bluebells now.

Thank you all so much for your prompt replies!
The bluebells have now gone; hopefully they will pop up again next year in my back garden which is a more suitable spot for them.
