Need to hear positive stories about vanquishing Japanese knotweed

I've just found Japanese knotweed creeping under the fence from the unkempt garden behind me. I'm bracing myself for asking my neighbours to take action, but everything I've ever heard about Japanese knotweed suggests we'll be fighting a losing battle.

Can anyone cheer me up with stories of how they saw off Japanese knotweed?

I can't help much,but to say it's illegal to let it spread from your property onto someone else's,so you could take legal action,worth bearing in mind in case your neighbours attitude is whatever.

It'll need professional treatment and your neighbour will need to pay for it. Act quickly and contact the council for advice/assistance. Bloody awful stuff.
