Bastard slugs

Any ideas on what to do about them?? They've eaten two lupins, all the sunflowers I planted with ds and two squash plants Hmm

I don't want to kill birds and hedgehogs with pellets and am not touching the damn things either!

I've put down two batches of nemaslugs this year and using beer traps. I have a pond full of frogs and we've had a visiting hedgehog.

I hadn't been out in the garden since the weekend and the bastards have eaten my cauliflowers, lupins, parsley, lettuces, courgette and delphiniums.

I hate them :(

Vile, vile, vile slugs.

We have a large pond, complete with frogs and toads, in our back garden, and the slimy bastards are still destroying my strawberries. Straw or dried grass-clipping mulch works well as a deterrent providing it's dry, but when it's been siling it down for days like it has recently, it's just food for slugs and snails.

I've had success with beer traps - I bury the resulting slug soup amongst my veg, figure it's both nutritious for plants and poetic justice.

This weather is a nightmare though. I've got entire plants disappearing overnight Angry

I grow in raised beds, so thinking I might invest in copper tape to go round the outside of each. But I've heard it's pricey, and I've got eight beds to protect . . .

I also go out daily and check slug hiding places round my raised beds - I get quite a few off the underside of pots, beneath the edges of landscaping fabric, and under large plants.

I sling them into the wood over the road. We have a large, active and hungry bird population, and I'd like to see the slugs try the trek back over the tarmac.

I have ninja slugs. They are small, brown and grey and hide underground. My hedgehogs do their best ( when they are not scratching or chasing each other round the garden), but I go out every night and pick myriads of the things off my pots and plants and drown them. I must try nematodes.

I just stamp on mine.

Slug pellets are harmful, most animals don't see in colour and they taste sweet to cats, melt in water and get onto things feet and into their digestive system when they clean themselves. MIL swears by broken up eggshells and she always has the best veg

She must eat a lot of eggs lanabelle!
